The Princess of Wales offered a warm smile to Queen Camilla as they appeared together on the Foreign Office balcony for the Remembrance Sunday service, a gesture a body language expert described as a signal of reassurance.
Princess Catherine took her place on the centre balcony to watch the Cenotaph ceremony, standing alongside the Queen. According to body language expert Judi James, the moment revealed the Princess as a calming presence within the royal family.

Ms James told the Daily Express: "Her warm smile towards a slightly tense-looking Camilla looked like a signal of reassurance as they first appeared together."
The expert noted that Catherine's demeanour carried the hallmarks of quiet strength once associated with the late Queen Elizabeth. "Over the past few years of drama and scandal for the royal Firm, [Catherine] has emerged as their natural matriarch, a calming presence who appears to project the kind of signals of continuity and resilience that the late Queen was known for," Ms James explained. "And this role was more than illustrated by her body language charisma and signals here today."
Focus on Prince William
While her dynamic with the Queen set a united tone for the morning, it was Prince William who received the most profound display of support from his wife. As the Prince of Wales laid his wreath on the street below alongside King Charles, Catherine was entirely focused on him.
"[Catherine] gazed down at her husband with her left brow raised and the hint of a smile on her face," Ms James said. "She looked literally lost in the moment of approval and it was only when Camilla spoke to her again that [Catherine's] head snapped round politely to offer a dimpled smile of warmth."
Ms James added that before the Queen playfully broke her concentration, the Princess's intense gaze suggested a "message of silent unity" with her husband, making it clear that she was there beside him in spirit.

The couple's deep connection was also evident in a fleeting moment of what Ms James called "subliminal mirroring" shortly after the Prince laid his floral tribute.
