Russell Brand's wife, Laura Gallacher, is said to be standing by him following his conviction on one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault, as family members express concern for her wellbeing.
Brand, 51, was found guilty last week and is currently being held at HMP Wandsworth while awaiting sentencing on Monday. His wife Laura, 39, is reportedly planning to move their three young children from their Florida home to the UK while he is behind bars.
Family Fears Over 'Brainwashing'
According to the Daily Mail, Laura's relatives are worried she has been "brainwashed" into believing Brand's innocence, as she is "refusing to accept the evidence against him." She is also said to be determined to support an appeal against his convictions.
A source told the publication: "Russell gets what Russell wants. He has that charm and swagger, and Laura is besotted with him. She goes along with what he wants; it's like he has totally brainwashed her."
Uncertainty Over Sentencing Attendance
The Sun reported that Laura is in "two minds" about whether to attend her husband's sentencing, despite being present throughout his trial at Southwark Crown Court.
A source said: "Russell has begged her to be there because he's no idea how long it will be before he sees her again. But there's also a part of Laura which is scared about running the gauntlet on Monday and having to face everyone again."
Prison Conditions
Brand is said to be facing a "substantial" sentence, with the comedian reportedly left "petrified" during his first few nights in solitary confinement. Upon arrival, he was strip-searched, given prison-issue clothes, and an "inedible" microwave meal in solitary, with officers deciding he would be better in confinement for his own safety.
The Mail on Sunday reported that prisoners have already begun chanting at Brand since his arrival, with claims they are singing: "There's a Brand new n***e on the wing! A Brand new n***e. Brand, you c***, you ain't so f***ing lairy now."
