Kensington Palace has sparked speculation that the Princess of Wales will be joined by a mystery guest for a piano duet at her annual Together at Christmas carol concert. A teaser clip shared on social media shows two pairs of hands on a piano keyboard with the caption 'A special duet', ahead of the broadcast on ITV1 tonight at 7.25pm.
The princess first demonstrated her piano skills in 2021, accompanying singer Tom Walker on his song 'For Those Who Can't Be Here'. Walker later described the experience as 'a once-in-a-lifetime experience'. The new clip has led to widespread speculation that she may perform again, possibly with another artist.
The concert, recorded earlier this month at Westminster Abbey, was attended by more than 1,600 guests including the Royal Family. In the order of service, the Princess of Wales wrote a personal message urging the nation to come together 'with generosity of heart, understanding and hope' amid testing times. She also emphasised the importance of checking in on loved ones during a period when 'life can sometimes feel fragmented or uncertain'.
The programme features readings from the Prince of Wales and actress Kate Winslet, musical performances by Hannah Waddingham, Katie Melua, Dan Smith, Griff, and Fisherman's Friends, and a performance by young dancers from Platinum Performing Arts in Edmonton, north London. British actress Vicky McClure narrates the service after the princess's introduction.
Two community films are included: one about Heather Johnstone, a community artist from Fleetwood, Lancashire, who hosts a Christmas dinner for those alone at Christmas; and another about Platinum Performing Arts. Both received letters from the princess inviting them to the service. In her message, Kate wrote: 'Christmas is a time that reminds us how deeply our lives are woven together. Just as the roots of trees share strength beneath the soil, unseen but vital, so too do we.'
