Princess Kate has remained largely out of the public eye since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March, while King Charles has continued to appear publicly and recently resumed official duties despite undergoing treatment. Insiders have now revealed the poignant reason behind their different approaches.
A source told the Daily Mail that King Charles wanted to be seen by the public during his treatment, but this has not been the case for Kate. 'As Sovereign, His Majesty is in a very different position from the Princess of Wales. There is no need for her to be seen while she's recovering,' the source said.
Both Charles and Kate are battling cancer, though the specific types have not been disclosed. Kate shared her diagnosis in a personal video, explaining that post-operative tests had found cancer. The King's diagnosis was announced by the Palace in a statement noting his positive outlook.
Earlier this month, Prince William provided an update on Kate during a visit to southwest England, saying she is 'doing well.' The couple also collaborated on a video for Mental Health Awareness Week, though Kate did not appear personally. The King, meanwhile, completed five engagements in 48 hours last week.
