The Prince and Princess of Wales are approaching their 15th wedding anniversary on 29 April, but their love story began years earlier at St Andrews University. However, it has emerged that Kate Middleton had already formed an opinion about Prince William before they met, based on his public profile.
In 2017, Kate's friend from Marlborough College, Jessica Hay, revealed that while other girls talked about boys at school, Kate's focus was elsewhere. According to The Telegraph, Kate would say: 'I don't like any of them… there's no one quite like William. I bet he's really kind. You can just tell by looking at him.'
The couple met as students at St Andrews, where they were friends for over a year before romance blossomed. In an engagement interview with ITV News, Prince William said: 'We just spent more time with each other, had a good giggle, had lots of fun and realised we shared the same interests.' Kate added: 'I actually think I went bright red when I met you and sort of scuttled off, feeling very shy.'
Prince William has also spoken about how fatherhood changed him. In a documentary, he said: 'I'm a lot more emotional than I used to be. I never used to get too wound up or worried about things. But now the smallest little things, you well up a little more.'
The couple married in 2011 in a ceremony watched by 162 million viewers globally and have three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
