The Prince and Princess of Wales are said to be experiencing a wave of renewed fury towards the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, following his first public appearance in seven weeks. The disgraced royal was photographed enjoying a horse ride on the grounds of Windsor Castle, a move described by palace insiders as a shameless provocation.
A Brazen Display at Windsor
This week, Prince Andrew was seen horse riding on the estate of Windsor Castle with a female companion. This marked his first public sighting since King Charles stripped him of his royal titles and forced him to leave his 30-room mansion, Royal Lodge. The images of a smiling Andrew trotting on a royal steed have caused significant embarrassment for the Royal Family, with a palace source confirming it is "not a good look". The source emphasised that the King would be particularly unhappy, noting that Windsor Castle is funded by the British taxpayer.
The Final Days at Royal Lodge
Andrew is currently spending his final days at the "crumbling" Royal Lodge, which he is due to vacate in the New Year. Royal sources claim he has been seen wandering the property alone, "ranting to himself". He has been joining his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, for lunches and dinners to discuss their next steps. Ferguson, who has lived with Andrew for decades, is expected to go her separate way when he moves to a property on the King's private Sandringham estate in Norfolk. Her future residence remains unclear.
The situation has been further inflamed by the revelation that Andrew has barely paid any rent on the Royal Lodge mansion for more than 20 years, a fact that has caused public outrage.
William and Kate's Proximity and Anger
The Waleses' anger is compounded by their current proximity to Andrew. Prince William and Kate Middleton recently moved into their "forever home", Forest Lodge, within Windsor Great Park. This move temporarily places them closer to William's disgraced uncle, with Royal Lodge situated approximately 1.4 miles away.
An insider revealed that the couple are "annoyed" by the photographs and want Andrew cut out of their lives completely. "That move to Sandringham can't come soon enough to get him away from Windsor," the source told the Daily Mail. William has long been understood to support taking decisive action against his uncle, fully backing the King's decision to remove Andrew's titles and home.
The pressure on Andrew continues to mount due to his links to the late convicted paedophile financier, Jeffrey Epstein. He was accused by Virginia Giuffre of sexual assault when she was a teenager, allegations he vehemently denies.
