Princess Catherine and Queen Camilla are the "real power" behind the throne, according to royal expert Katie Nicholl, not King Charles and Prince William. The claim comes amid a turbulent year for the Royal Family, marked by the fallout from the Epstein files scandal involving Prince Andrew.
Influence Over Key Decisions
Nicholl, co-host of the Royals Uncensored podcast, told iNews: "It's very likely that Kate and Camilla wielded a quiet but incredibly powerful influence over both the King and Prince of Wales when it came to their response (to Andrew). Some describe them as the real power behind the throne."
This influence is believed to have been pivotal in the decision to strip Andrew of his royal titles and his Royal Lodge home. Both the King and Queen, and Prince William and Princess Catherine, reportedly wanted Andrew to stop using his titles to prevent further damage to the monarchy.
Andrew's Downfall
Over the last year, Andrew lost his titles and his residence, following the Epstein files scandals. He was arrested and released under investigation on suspicion of misconduct in public office, accusations he has consistently denied.
After Andrew's arrest in February, King Charles released a statement: "I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities."
He added: "In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all. Charles R."
Andrew has since kept a low profile at his new farmhouse in Norfolk on the Sandringham estate, a move that appears to have helped mitigate the scandal's impact on the monarchy.
