Fox News host Jesse Watters has sparked controversy by suggesting that President Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron Trump, should marry actress Sydney Sweeney to form what he called the 'greatest political dynasty in American history.' The remark was made during Monday's episode of The Five, prompting laughter from his co-hosts.
Watters' comment came hours after President Trump praised Sweeney's advertisement for American Eagle, which has faced backlash for its play on words linking 'genes' and 'jeans.' Critics argued the ad evoked eugenics, a discredited racist ideology. American Eagle defended the campaign, stating it was 'always about the jeans.'
The 27-year-old actress, known for roles in White Lotus and Euphoria, is a registered Republican in Florida since June 2024, though she has not publicly endorsed Trump. President Trump lauded the ad on Truth Social, calling it the 'HOTTEST' and noting that the jeans were 'flying off the shelves.' Following his post, American Eagle's stock surged by 23.65%.
Watters also criticised Democrats for opposing the ad, accusing them of being 'obsessed with Nazis.' He claimed Trump was 'in on the culture' due to his television viewing habits. Barron Trump, 19, is a student at New York University.
