Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara has been married to her former co-star Aljaž Škorjanec since 2017, but before finding lasting love with him, she was linked to two other Strictly dancers. In 2010, she was reportedly involved with Artem Chigvintsev, having previously been linked to Pasha Kovalev.
A romance revealed in 2013
Her romantic history was revealed by a source in 2013, who told the Sunday People that Janette had no reason to feel jealous when Aljaž was paired with a new celebrity partner each series. The source said: "Janette is obviously a very attractive woman but she's very into Alja now. They have been together for two years and do everything together."
How the couple fell in love
Janette and Aljaž first got engaged in 2015 before exchanging vows in a lavish London ceremony two years later, surrounded by a host of celebrity guests. The couple enjoyed a two-part honeymoon, spending time in Florida before heading to Slovenia to celebrate with their families in their respective hometowns. In July 2023, the pair welcomed their first child together, daughter Lyra Rose.
The couple have opened up about how they initially fell for each other, beginning their romance while touring with dance production Burn the Floor. Aljaž revealed on Lorraine in 2022 that it was love at first sight for him, but "not for Janette". Janette said: "We were friends for a whole year. We were friends for a long time before we actually went on our first date... but I will admit, he definitely tried."
Joining Strictly made life simpler
Becoming part of Strictly in 2013 made life considerably simpler for the duo, as they were managing a long-distance relationship - Janette was based in Los Angeles and Aljaž in Slovenia. She explained in 2021: "The thought of doing the whole long-distance thing made it hard for us. We were very scared about what was going to happen to our relationship."
She added: "They called me first and asked me to join the show, I didn't scream but my face said it all. Within five minutes they called him straight after."
