Prince Harry wants Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to go to school in Britain because they will not get any special treatment there, a commentator has claimed. Samara Gill said Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, moving to the UK will be "the best possible thing" for the Sussexes' children.
Commentator praises move away from 'Hollywoodification'
Asked what moving to the UK will be like for them, Gill added: "I think the Hollywoodification of the Royal Family that Meghan [Duchess of Sussex] has indulged in is not good for them. They're going to be treated like normal people over here, whatever school they go to."
The TalkTV host suggested Archie and Lilibet will not get the special treatment which she claimed they would have in California. She said: "They're going to be treated like normal people whatever school they go to... We know those schools in Montecito have very interesting treatment of celebrity children and they would have been held up on a pedestal."
Reconnecting with family
Gill added that to Prince Harry's credit, he could see that and this is probably why he wants Archie and Lilibet to be in Britain. The commentator told Royal Exclusive: "It's the perfect time for [Archie and Lilibet] to reconnect with their grandad (Charles) and also their cousins potentially."
She suggested Archie and Lilibet had been "locked away" in Montecito, but will now have "access" to their "wonderful" family in Britain.
Enrolment and plans
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have already been enrolled in British schools, it was revealed last Wednesday. They are expected to start at their new primaries in early September. There will be no official photos of the children when they start school or on their birthdays as is usual for working royals, it is understood.
The Sussexes are to live in a non-royal residence outside London during their return, which is for an extended period but not permanent. Harry and Meghan decamped to California more than six years ago amid the turbulent "Megxit" crisis, which was followed by ongoing family fallouts and a barrage of accusations aimed at Prince William, Princess Catherine, the King and Queen Camilla.
Rumours have abounded as to where Harry and Meghan will choose to settle, with suggestions including rural locations in the Cotswolds in Oxfordshire or Gloucestershire, amid speculation over which schools they have chosen for their children. The King is said to be glad to be able to spend more time with the Sussex family, but remains adamant they will not be working royals, and there is no half-in, half-out option.
