Harry told to 'keep his mouth shut' in royal warning

Prince Harry has been warned that his latest media appearances are undermining any chance of repairing his relationship with the Royal Family. The Duke of Sussex appeared in a new interview with GQ to promote his MasterClass project, during which he said he wants peace with the Royal Family but that others "don't want it to work out."

Expert criticises interview as 'self-inflicted wound'

PR expert Eric Schiffer described the interview as another "self-inflicted wound" and cautioned the Duke against airing family issues publicly. Speaking to Newsweek, Mr Schiffer said: "Make a selection—do you want a relationship with your father and your brother, or do you want to try to stop the bleed out of reputational challenges, because you can't have both, and if he's going to focus on his reputation, then he has to keep his mouth shut with his family, don't talk about it, don't comment."

Harry's comments on family relationships

In the interview, Harry was asked whether he grieves his "complicated" relationship with his father and brother. He responded: "Yeah, yes, of course, from a family perspective, again another massively relatable issue for so many people. There's sibling disagreements, there's broken relationships between, you know, kids and their parents, kids and one parent." He added: "And some people don't want it to work out – I want it to work out."

Following speculation that Harry was implying his brother and father do not want things to "work out," a spokesperson for the Duke said: "It was absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family. The comment was made in a general context and was not directed at his family in any way."
