Police hunt man in orange wig after fatal pub shooting

Police are searching for a man captured on CCTV wearing a long, frizzy, orange wig around the time of a fatal pub shooting in north London. Metropolitan Police are warning people not to approach Abreham Woldegiworgis, 35, who they believe is the person shown in the footage wearing a grey beanie and a bright orange wig.

Woldegiworgis is an Ethiopian national with links to north London, as well as Haringey and Brixton in south London. Scotland Yard released "before" and "after" images of him on Monday in an appeal for information, saying detectives wish to speak to him.

Appeal after fatal shooting

Erdem Mustafa, 35, was shot dead in Hertford Road, Enfield, at approximately 9.30pm on 19 October in what detectives believe was a targeted attack. Emergency services treated him at the scene for gunshot wounds before he was later pronounced dead.

The renewed appeal comes after a 23-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 26 October on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. He remains in police custody. Specialist officers are supporting Mustafa's next-of-kin.

Police urge public to come forward

The force said both images show the same person with and without a beard, and have urged people to call police if they spot him. Detectives believe Woldegiworgis is the person captured in disguise in a CCTV image released last week, but police say the man "significantly altered his appearance" since being filmed.

Ch Insp Allam Bhangoo said: "We remain committed to securing justice for Erdem as our thoughts remain with his loved ones at this unimaginably hard time. While I am pleased my team have made an arrest, our work continues at pace to investigate the full circumstances around Erdem's murder. We are now releasing the details and images of a man we urgently need to speak to in connection with the incident."

"We are carrying out a number of inquiries to trace him but are also asking for the public's help. If you recognise him or have any information on his whereabouts please come forward. We are still appealing for anyone with wider information about the shooting, including any CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage, to also contact us."
