Harry Potter actress Evanna Lynch has married her partner Denis Skinner in an intimate ceremony in north London on Friday, after consulting an astrologer to plan the date.
The 35-year-old, known for her role as Luna Lovegood in the fantasy film franchise, tied the knot with her partner of almost five years. The Irish actress made her film debut in Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix in 2007.
Astrologer advised against solar eclipse date
The star consulted an astrologist to help with wedding planning and eventually scheduled the event for August 21, as her desired date of August 22 was not viable because she was advised to avoid the solar eclipse, according to British Vogue.
“I can totally see why. Lots of my friends have been sick, or a family member has died – it’s been very dramatic,” she told the fashion magazine.
Vintage skirt and eco-friendly suit
The actress wore a vintage skirt her stylist found weeks before her wedding day, while her new husband opted for a green suit with shoes from Rothy’s, crafted from plastic bottles to reflect his environmentalism.
“A lot of people questioned wearing corduroy in August but Den would not be deterred,” she said.
Ceremony and reception details
The actress described the ceremony at Islington Town Hall as “very sweet and simple”, with Vogue sharing pictures of the couple accompanied by their dog Malo on the big day.
“When we started the wedding planning process, I was a bit disparaging of it all,” she said. “It’s so over the top. It’s so lavish. But as we’ve gotten closer to it, I’ve realised how unique and special it is.”
Other pictures include the couple embracing and their reception at Wilton’s Music Hall, where they hired a swing band “to get people dancing”.
She also addressed their engagement in 2023, saying she “totally knew” Denis was going to propose after he originally asked her to marry him during a “big argument”. The publication wrote that he planned a “private engagement surrounded by nature” in August that year, around her 32nd birthday.
The couple met in a pub in London two years prior, where the Frenchman was working as a bartender.
