Prince Harry has been back in the UK since the end of August, and there is no sign of him and his brother, Prince William, reuniting. The brothers need to make amends for one important reason, and it does not even concern them.
The estranged pair have had an ocean between them for the past six years, both literally and figuratively. In 2020, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, quit their royal roles, packed their bags and headed to the USA. In a shock turn of events, they have now been back in Britain for nearly seven weeks, setting up their life in the Cotswolds.
A family bond at stake
There are plenty of people who think future-king William should never talk to Harry again after the allegations he has made against The Firm over the years. But putting all of that aside for a minute, there are five very important people who could majorly benefit from a truce between the brothers.
Their children, who are cousins - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet - have practically never met. They are just kids, and it is a terrible shame they have not been able to all grow up together before the inevitable realities of royal life begin for them.
Time to plan a reunion
The children should not have to lose a family bond because of their father's feud. Now that Harry and Meghan are back in the UK, it is best to get a plan in the diary sooner rather than later. The longer the brothers leave it, the more strange it will be if they ever try to introduce their children to each other.
With the festive season coming up, a simple plan where the stakes are not too high, like popping round for a cuppa with the kids, would be better done now than left to fester. By the time 2027 comes, all five children could be making friends on their annual summer at Sandringham - unlikely, let's face it. But a nice thought for the sake of the kids who have become victims of the feud, robbed of their own cousins.
Growing up in the spotlight
Growing up in the public eye means the young royals are going to need each other more and more as they grow up. They will have to face endless interest into their lives, from their education to their teenage years, their partners, or their role in the Royal Family.
Prince Harry has always grown up around his cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who he has reportedly been close to at times in his life. It is safe to say that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have not had an easy ride either. The princesses will no doubt have struggled at times, much like Prince Harry.
Troubles for the princesses arose after their father, ex-prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was linked to convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. Prince Harry once described life in the royal family as "life inside the fishbowl," and from the second any of the royals were born, they were already destined to be in the spotlight.
No matter what the five children go on to do, they are in a unique position and one that will no doubt bring its challenges. It is not too late for the Sussexes and the Waleses to let their children build a bond - and they are going to need it.
