Harry and William 'may never reunite as friends,' expert says

Prince Harry and Prince William may never reunite as friends, a royal expert has claimed. The royal brothers' famously rocky relationship has not been improved by the Duke of Sussex moving back to the UK, despite the wishes of fans and family alike.

Expert says rift 'terribly sad'

"I can't see the rift with the family, particularly with William and Catherine; it's obviously never going to go back to the way it was, which is terribly sad," royal expert and broadcaster Simon Vigar told GB News.

He added: "If they were to come back, which I don't see happening anytime soon, and share the load once William and Catherine are on the throne, maybe then, but I don't think Harry wants it, and I'm pretty sure Meghan doesn't want to, and I don't think they care."

Timeline of tensions

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved back to the UK at the end of August, prompting fans and experts to consider the likelihood of a royal reunion, reports the Express.

Issues between the duo began when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle started dating, with Prince William reportedly concerned about the speed at which their relationship was progressing. In 2018 Prince William reportedly advised Harry not to rush into the relationship, prompting Harry to accuse his brother of trying to wreck the romance, The Sun reports.

The next year, tensions rose during an alleged confrontation at Kensington Palace. By 2020, the Sussexes stepped back from their royal roles and moved to the US, where they lived for six years.

Public fallout

In 2021 the couple took part in an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which they made further allegations against the Royal Family. In 2022, the couple's Netflix docuseries was released, which criticised palace operations.

Prince Harry released his memoir, Spare, in 2023, which further damaged their relationship due to Harry's allegations about the Royal Family in the book.
