The Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelled to Gloucestershire last weekend for a secret royal reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House. The meeting, which lasted approximately one hour, was orchestrated by the King and kept from other members of the royal family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, according to sources close to the Sussex couple.
Secret Meeting Details Revealed
New reports from Vanity Fair shed light on the clandestine meeting that took place on Friday afternoon. Sources described the encounter as "completely cloak-and-dagger, orchestrated by the King." Only those directly involved—the King, Queen, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and a few aides—were aware of the meeting. The Prince and Princess of Wales were not informed.
Prince Harry was in the UK for charitable engagements, while Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, entered the country unnoticed. The family managed to keep their whereabouts secret despite intense media speculation about their potential return to Britain.
King's Desire for Family Reunion
According to a source, "The King wanted to see Harry and the children. A time was agreed for the Sussexes to come to Highgrove on Friday afternoon, and it was uncharacteristically last-minute for the King. Everyone was sworn to secrecy so that the meeting could remain private." The King requested Queen Camilla's presence for moral support, and she rushed to his side without telling anyone.
The source added that the Sussexes were equally committed to discretion: "They are keeping the meeting top secret. They haven’t said anything to anyone." The agreement made before the meeting stipulated that no photos or details would be shared. "It was a top-secret arrangement, and they pulled it off, and frankly, they are delighted about that," the source said.
First Family Meeting in Four Years
The meeting marked the first time the families had come together in four years. "They were at Highgrove for an hour or so, but don’t expect to hear anything about what was said. That was the promise Harry made to his father. It’s critical because this is the first time the families have met in four years. Harry was very pleased it happened because everything was up in the air," the source revealed.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the meeting only after the two families had parted ways. An aide stated that no further details or images would be released, emphasizing the private nature of the reunion.
