Days after the letter was published, Uganda announced it was pulling out of the Invictus Games, saying that it would not participate in any event without King Charles's approval.
Royal authors Robert Jobson and Angela Levin discussed the developments with TalkTV host Jeremy Kyle, who claimed that the Sussexes' every move is "designed to manipulate". Angela agreed, arguing that the couple's next move could have significant implications for King Charles.
Royal Authors Accuse Couple of Playing Games
"I think that this whole thing is a game for them," she said. "They're going to punish the king because they feel that he's let them down when actually, it's those two who haven't done terribly well for themselves."
She described the situation as "extremely upsetting" for King Charles, adding: "If you had a father who was in his late 70s and had cancer, you would be nice and pleasant, but they are not. They're driving him mad, I'm sure, and he has to keep away and he has to make sure that everything is not done in a terrible manner."
King Had No Choice, Says Jobson
Robert argued that King Charles had no choice but to publish the letter, suggesting Harry and Meghan want to be recognised as members of the Royal Family.
He said: "The King had to do what he did because there was a mission creep going on. Their overworked spokesman has come out and said quite straightforwardly they are public figures, they want to be acknowledged as members of the royal family.
"I think there's an agenda going on behind the scenes that we're not stupid. I'm sure both Angela and I and many others can see exactly what's going on, that it's all part of a bigger plan to attack the King the way he did."
He argued that "the King is simply restating the facts", before claiming that the Sussexes are still attempting to monetise their royal status.
