Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to make a return to the UK within days, according to reports, but a source has suggested the move may not be permanent.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly preparing to travel from California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, before the end of August. Reports claim the royal children have already been enrolled in an unnamed British school, and the family is expected to stay in a heavily guarded, non-royal private residence.
Temporary Stay Possible
Despite speculation that the couple is returning to Britain for good, a source told The Times the move could be temporary. The source said: "It'll be an extended period of time - it could be six months, it could be a year, it could be more - I don't think even they know yet."
The source added: "They might suddenly go: 'Why don't we try Canada for a while? Why don't we try Australia?' It's one of the great things about being private individuals [that they can live where they choose]."
No Official Statement Yet
Harry and Meghan have not released a statement about the move, according to the Express. Rumours about the reason for the relocation include Harry's desire to be close to King Charles, while other reports suggest Meghan has been offered an acting role based in Britain, though there is no official confirmation.
The family is expected to keep their Montecito home in America and their Portugal holiday home. It has also been reported that the family's chickens will remain at the Montecito property, while their two dogs are expected to travel to the UK with them.
An expert has claimed the UK return is an "admission of failure" on the couple's part.
