Harry and Meghan Must Keep Meeting Private or Risk Feud

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle must keep the details of their reunion with King Charles private or risk ending any chance of resolving the royal feud, according to a royal expert. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met the King at Highgrove House on Friday, July 10, 2026, accompanied by their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It was the first time the two youngest grandchildren had seen their grandfather since 2022.

Private Meeting at Highgrove

The visit was described as long-awaited, with Archie and Lilibet reportedly excited at the prospect of seeing the King. However, a source close to the Sussexes said the children had "no concept" of the magnitude of their grandparents' royal status. The meeting almost did not take place, as Meghan and the children joined Harry only hours before the reunion.

Very few details have been released about the visit. Royal expert Lauren Welch argues that this is the correct approach. "In my opinion, it should stay that way," she said. "The private meeting was held and the only people who should know what happened inside Highgrove House today are those in attendance – the Sussexes and the King and Queen."

Stakes for the Royal Feud

Welch emphasised that Harry and Meghan must keep this moment away from the media, especially for the sake of their children. "One thing is evident – the King still has a longing desire to show up for his youngest son and his family – even after the Netflix show, bombshell memoir and Harry's slip of the tongue comment about his father's health in an interview following a visit last May," she wrote.

The meeting proves that Charles still wants them in his life, and Welch hopes visits like today will become regular. "Archie and Lilibet deserve to get to know their royal relatives, especially their grandfather. If Harry and Meghan decide to keep details to themselves, the ongoing feud with the royals may be one step closer to being resolved."

Consequences of Discretion

If the couple fails to maintain privacy, Welch warned, "the couple's chance to end the feud could be over forever – with no resolution on the horizon." The reunion comes amid ongoing tensions between the Sussexes and the royal family, including Harry's memoir "Spare" and the couple's Netflix docuseries.
