A former royal butler and ex-employee of King Charles has shared his thoughts on how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might celebrate Prince Louis' birthday. Today, April 23, marks the young royal's eighth birthday, which Kensington Palace commemorated by releasing a new photograph of him.
Harry and Meghan's Likely Gesture
Grant Harrold, who previously served as a butler to King Charles, believes that Harry and Meghan will send presents to Prince Louis. Speaking exclusively to Reach, Harrold said: "I also think Harry and Meghan will send presents as well, or possibly vouchers. Hopefully it's not something from Meghan's new range, can you imagine?" He added: "But in all seriousness, Harry was so close to his nieces and nephews. Despite everything that's happened, the issues have never been with the children so I think the Sussexes will reach out on the day."
William and Kate's Plans
Regarding how the Prince and Princess of Wales will celebrate their son's birthday, Harrold suggested they would host a party with Louis' friends. "I think William and Kate will throw Louis a party with his friends, just like any other child that age really. They might invite some members of the family as well, but the focus will be the birthday boy having fun with his pals," he explained. He noted that William and Harry used to have similar parties when they were younger, and this tradition is likely to continue with the next generation.
Harry's Visit to Ukraine
While attention is on Prince Louis, Prince Harry has also been making headlines for his visit to Ukraine's capital, Kyiv. During his trip, he urged the world not to forget about the country's ongoing war with Russia. In a statement upon his arrival, Harry told ITV: "It's good to be back in Ukraine." He added that he wanted "to remind people back home and around the world what Ukraine is up against and to support the people and partners doing extraordinary work every hour of every day in incredibly tough conditions." Harry emphasized that Ukraine is "bravely and successfully defending Europe's eastern flank" and that "it matters that we don't lose sight of the significance of that."
The Duke of Sussex has been returning to the UK more frequently in recent months and has also traveled further east, including this week's visit to Ukraine. Despite speculation about a possible return to senior royal duties following the King's cancer diagnosis, Harry has not yet rejoined the royal fold.
