Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been criticised over a “shared delusion” ahead of their first joint engagement in the UK on Thursday. The couple are stepping out for three separate engagements in Nottingham, marking Meghan's first official appearance since their return to the UK in August.
Criticism over 'cosplay royal routine'
It has been reported that both Harry and Meghan are “excited” for tomorrow's visits, but fans have savaged the couple's excitement over their engagement. Taking to X, one royal fan commented: “I’m not sure why they’re excited about “their work” as this cosplay royal routine isn’t work, it’s a weird shared delusion that they have that they can just be working royals without actually being working royals.”
They added: “Honestly, if a normal person showed up at a job they voluntarily left years ago and behaved this way the cops would be called and the person would be put on a 5150 hold for a mental evaluation. They both need to focus on what should be their actual work, as in work like a job. You know, that thing that pays you money in exchange for your labour. I have zero idea what Harry and Meghan think they’re doing.”
In response to the tweet, another fan commented: “Strange behaviour. Them coming back acting like nothing ever happened. How dare they?! I'm not even British, and I'm furious about it.”
Details of the Nottingham visits
Meghan and Harry will reportedly visit three charitable organisations in Nottingham on Thursday. The couple's first visit will be to a youth and community charity. They will also visit two further charitable initiatives that day.
The Community Recording Studio (CRS) in St Ann’s, Nottingham, was originally set up to give young people access to music and recording facilities, and now offers them a range of creative activities to take part in. Harry visited earlier this year.
Family settling in the UK
The couple are thought to now be living somewhere in the Cotswolds with their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five. Meghan has been mainly focusing on settling her children into their new home and on her brand, As Ever, which recently released a festive advent calendar.
A friend said that Meghan is keen to “stick her head above the parapet” as the family begin to feel settled in Britain. Speaking to HELLO!, the friend said: “Her diary is full. It's the kids, As Ever, acting and then supporting good causes in whatever time she has left over. But she's got a really good team around As Ever, the children are a bit older, they are both in school full time. They've got the kids settled. Archie and Lili are really enjoying school. She is able to now stick her head above the parapet a little bit more. It's a case of having a little bit more time to re-look at her original career, her vocation as an actor. She's looking at loads of acting offers. She's meeting a lot of writers and creatives, and reading a lot of scripts. If there's anything that stands out as being amazing, then she'll do it.”
Archie and Lilibet were previously pulled out of their first school due to a strain on the family's security, and later placed into a new school. Harry recently spoke with CTV News about his return to the UK, shortly after parachuting from a plane north of Toronto to raise money for two veterans charities. “It’s been great. It’s been great to be back on British soil. The kids are happy in school and it gives me a chance to be able to really focus on the Invictus Games in Birmingham in July next year,” he said.
