Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been dealt a devastating blow as royal author Simon Vigar claimed Princess Diana would have "never allowed" them to leave the UK and start a rift within the Royal Family.
Speaking on The Royals Uncensored, a spin-off of Piers Morgan Uncensored, Vigar made the remarks during a discussion about Diana's legacy ahead of the anniversary of her death.
Diana's Impact
Presenter Katie Nicholl asked Vigar about his research into Diana, noting she is "arguably the greatest change-maker – she broke the mould." Vigar said it was difficult to get people to talk on the record, but he believes Diana made the British monarchy more relatable.
He said Diana had a "massive role in raising William and Harry," giving them glimpses of normality, from going to a record shop on Kensington High Street to fast food takeaways. He also highlighted how she changed relationships by calling people by their first names.
Would Diana Have Allowed Megxit?
Vigar said Diana is "still changing the Royal Family," including how they grieve, referencing the week of her death in 1997. He added: "By the way, if she was still alive today, she wouldn’t have let Megxit happen or any of that. She would have banged their heads together."
When asked what Diana would make of the rift between Harry and William, Vigar said she would be "distraught" and that he doesn't think it would have happened if she were alive.
Panellist Jo Elvin added that Harry might not have been in the vulnerable place he was when he met Meghan had Diana been alive, as he would have had a different childhood.
