Sarah's Trust, the international charity founded by Sarah Ferguson, the former wife of Prince Andrew, is to close following the release of new documents detailing her friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. A spokesperson confirmed the closure would happen 'for the foreseeable future' after months of discussion.
The decision comes after the US Department of Justice released approximately 3 million files related to Epstein on Friday. Among the revelations were emails showing Ferguson referred to Epstein as 'the brother I have always wished for' and thanked him for his kindness.
In one email from 2011, Ferguson wrote to Epstein suggesting he may have had a secret child, stating she had heard from 'The Duke' that Epstein had a baby boy. In another, she accused Epstein of being friends with her only 'to get to Andrew', expressing deep hurt.
The charity's closure follows seven other charities, including the Teenage Cancer Trust, severing ties with Ferguson over her Epstein links. Sarah's Trust had partnered with over 60 charities in 20 countries, delivering aid during the Covid pandemic and supporting projects in Ukraine and Ghana.
Ferguson's spokesperson previously stated she regrets her association with Epstein and does not resile from condemning him publicly.
