Ned Porteous's Joe Tate has a seed of paranoia planted in his mind in Emmerdale. Over recent days, Olivia Bromley's Dawn Taylor has been growing jealous over Billy Fletcher's (Jay Kontzle) relationship with Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).
Throughout Dawn's new romance with Joe, Billy has been single. He has focused on rebuilding his life after his marriage fell apart, and has not thought much about finding another girlfriend. This created an illusion for Dawn, as she convinced herself she has totally moved on from Billy. Seeing him be affectionate with someone else has caused that carefully built belief to start unravelling.
Gabby collapses
Dawn got a shock in today's episode when she found Gabby collapsed on the floor. Gabby later headed to an appointment at the surgery, where Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) suggested doing a pregnancy test for peace of mind. Gabby collapsed because she has been hyperfocusing on what food she puts in her body.
When she returned to Home Farm, Gabby announced to Dawn that she is not pregnant but has decided to stop her birth control medication, believing she should not add chemicals into her body. Dawn then met Billy in the cafe and updated him about what Gabby experienced that morning. She referenced the time Gabby fell asleep at the wheel due to not eating properly and began to wonder if something similar was happening now.
Gabby did not react well to comments from her boyfriend's ex. Although Dawn was genuinely concerned about Gabby's relationship with food, Gabby viewed it as Dawn being jealous that she was with Billy.
Gabby plants doubts
Irritated at Dawn, Gabby got revenge later that day when she found Joe. She stated that she does not think Dawn is over Billy and backed this up by revealing that they had a secret meeting. The expression on Joe's face suggested he has had a few niggling thoughts about Billy and Dawn for a while, and things could worsen ahead of Dawn's final scenes in the show.
During a moment together, Billy almost kisses Dawn. Just after this happens, Joe walks in, but Dawn is not sure how much he witnessed. As Billy and Dawn attempt to convince themselves that Joe did not see anything, he walks in and announces he has organised a family lunch.
Joe's plan
Joe invites Billy, who quickly claims he has work. Billy is forced to agree when Joe points out he is entitled to a lunch break. Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) then walks in and grows suspicious when Joe asks him and Kim Tate (Claire King) to attend as well. Graham knows Joe is up to something.
