Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) has been causing trouble for the Tates in Emmerdale, with her true self starting to show as she settles into village life. Last week, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) discovered that partner Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) had been injured after being hit by a trailer. Serena informed Aaron of the incident, leaving him suspicious that she had set it up, following in the footsteps of John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), who deliberately put people in danger to swoop in and save them. Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) later found pictures on Serena's phone of her and John, despite Serena previously claiming she hadn't seen John in years. The images proved she had seen him while he was on the run in 2025.
Serena's connection to John revealed
Serena explained to Robert and Aaron that her family didn't think much when John arrived last December, but things changed when her mum saw him on the news. Like many Emmerdale residents, she had fallen for John's charm and had to process that his crimes revealed his lies. Robert understood and let Serena stay. It was then confirmed that Serena was hiding another secret: she had broken into Home Farm and stolen a USB stick.
Serena targets the Tates
In today's episode, Serena deliberately damaged a fence on the farm to create an excuse to see Ross Barton (Michael Parr). She claimed Kim Tate (Claire King) needed to pay for a new fence and urged Ross to go to Home Farm with her. Ross, attracted to Serena, agreed. Once inside, Serena hid the USB stick down a sofa and snooped around. She picked up a photograph, believing it showed a young Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), but Ross clarified it was Kim's son Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln). Serena seemed intrigued and listened as Ross gossiped about Jamie's dark past in the village.
Serena's actions suggest she is connected to the Tate family. After Ross left, Serena was seen on the phone, stating she believed she had a way into Kim's house. She appears to be using Ross to her advantage, indicating more Tate-related drama to come.
