Emma Willis has made an emotional confession about parenthood, admitting she sometimes doubts whether she gets it right. The Strictly Come Dancing presenter, 50, has been married to Matt Willis since 2008 and they share three children together: Isabelle, 17, Ace, 14, and Trixie, 10.
Confidence Boost After Children
In 2014, before welcoming their third child, Emma opened up about her career, revealing her confidence took a boost after she had children. "Things started to go really well for me as soon as I had kids. Sometimes, interviewing people, I would feel so intimidated and nervous," she told The Standard in 2014.
"But when you've had kids it gives you confidence – you think, 'I'm a mum. I'm not scared. If I can raise a human being, I can fu**ing do this!'", she added.
Self-Doubt in Motherhood
Despite this, Emma still has self-doubt when it comes to motherhood. "The idea of being a role model is bizarre. I am in no way, shape or form perfect," she said. "I have no idea if I'm doing this right," she added.
Emma also discussed her relationship with Busted star Matt, 43, in the same interview, admitting she never thought they would end up together. She recalled working at MTV when they first met, remembering how he would "waddle around like a duck" in baggy jeans to stop them from falling down.
Matt Defends Emma on This Morning
"He used to wear makeup and have weird hairstyles. But I remember thinking underneath all that was a really cute guy… Nine years on, that fun has turned into a marriage and two kids, which is amazing because I never expected it for a second, and I don't think he did," the former Big Brother host confessed.
It comes after Matt defended Emma on This Morning as he was pressed about her new role on Strictly Come Dancing. Emma was hired as one of the new presenters alongside Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe, but her two co-stars have faced tense backlash since making their debuts last month.
"She doesn't pay attention to anything, she's very good at doing her job. She just puts her head down, does her job the best she can. She loves working with Josh and Jojo and they're great and they're brilliant and they're lovely people and they're just in all of this together," he told This Morning presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.
Ben, 51, then questioned Matt on whether Emma's appointment on Strictly has made him consider appearing on the show himself. "I've been asked to do Strictly a couple of times but I've got a valid reason not to now. I think it would be a bit of a conflict of interest," the musician said.
"Watching it does make you go, 'That's impressive', especially when you're there live, watching them do it. I'm like 'Wow that's difficult'. And when they pick up on little things, I think, 'What are you talking about, that was amazing!'", he concluded.
