Doria Ragland's real reason for not joining Harry and Meghan in UK

Meghan Markle's mother, Doria Ragland, will not be joining her daughter and son-in-law as they relocate to the UK, it has been revealed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to move back to the UK with their two children within days. The news was made public on Wednesday, with their return expected to take place very soon. The couple have been based in California since stepping down as senior working royals in 2020.

Doria's decision to stay in the US

Despite being a supportive presence for the couple since their move to the US, Doria will not be joining them during their move back to the UK because she "has a life she's not ready to leave behind," according to TMZ.

The outlet reported that she has a home near Los Angeles and that "she will see the family... though it's unclear where."

A close bond with the Sussexes

Doria is known to have travelled to the UK around the time of Archie's birth in 2019 and was there to help the couple after they welcomed Lilibet. Sources have previously noted how close Harry is with his mother-in-law, revealing that he "adores" her, finds her presence "refreshing," and "loves being mothered." Archie and Lilibet are also said to share a close bond with their maternal grandmother.

King Charles was first made aware of the move on Sunday, just three days before it was made public. The King is said to welcome the opportunity to see more of the family, both in a private and personal capacity.
