Historian and presenter Dan Snow returns with a new Channel 5 series, The Odyssey with Dan Snow, airing tonight at 9pm. The show follows Snow as he retraces Homer's epic journey across the Mediterranean, exploring Greek harbours, remote islands, and ancient sites that inspired one of the world's greatest stories.
Behind the camera, Snow's personal life is equally fascinating. He married Lady Edwina Grosvenor in 2010, joining one of Britain's wealthiest families. Lady Edwina is the sister of the Duke of Westminster, whose fortune is estimated at nearly £10 billion. The Duke is also Prince George's godfather, linking Snow to the royal family.
How Dan Snow Met His Wife
Snow and Lady Edwina met at a friend's wedding, where they were seated together. Snow later revealed that the seating arrangement was no accident; the wedding organiser intentionally placed them together. Snow said he immediately knew Edwina was "the one." The couple share three children: Zia, Wolf, and Orla.
Why They Eloped
Despite their high-profile backgrounds, Snow and Lady Edwina chose to elope rather than have a traditional wedding. The ceremony took place in November 2010 at Bishop's Lodge in Woolton, Liverpool, the official residence of the then Bishop of Liverpool, James Jones, who officiated. Only a few close relatives attended.
Explaining their decision, the couple told the Daily Mail: "Neither of us has ever wanted a big white wedding. We are delighted we have been free to plan a simple and relaxed wedding exactly as we wished, with our families around us."
Lady Edwina works as a criminologist and philanthropist, while Snow continues his presenting career. The Odyssey with Dan Snow airs tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.
