Former Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has described her cancer treatment as 'agony' while striving to stay positive. The actress, known for playing Maxine Peacock in the ITV soap from 1995 to 2003, is undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in April.
Diagnosis and Treatment Plan
Shaw, 53, revealed she needs five months of chemotherapy after tests showed she is HER2 positive. In her initial announcement, she said: "I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Originally, I was going to have surgery in two weeks, but because my results have come back that I am HER2 positive, it means I have to have chemo for five months."
She added: "Then [there is] hopefully surgery to have lumps removed and take the nymph glands out so they can do some more tests. And possibly more surgery before radiotherapy."
Latest Update After Fourth Round
After completing her fourth chemotherapy round, Shaw shared photos on Instagram, including moments of joy in nature. She wrote: "Phew, round 4 hit hard! I’ve chose to show the moments of Joy I experience, hoping they bring light to those in the same position. Amidst this pain and suffering, I’ve had to dig deep into the constant spiritual growth, to creation and its wonders."
She continued: "Knowing what’s coming each cycle doesn’t make it easier, but I’m not panicking, definitely trusting the process, honestly, it’s agony. but keeping it in the day. Praying a lot for others. Grateful to have met others to share this journey with, life sisters. Feeling absolute rubbish at the moment but 'this too shall pass'. Love and gratitude."
