Coronation Street fans have been calling for a character to make their Weatherfield return, but it would mean a major recast as the actress who played her is in a rival soap. In recent episodes of the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, viewers have seen Eva Price struggling to remember what happened to her after she was found in a bad way at the bottom of the Rovers Return's cellar steps.
Eva's ordeal and Sam's role
As viewers saw last week, Eva closed the Rovers early after she found her nephew, Sam Blakeman, looking for his missing phone, which had earlier been confiscated by his dad, Nick Tilsley. As Eva caught him by surprise, a panicked Sam tried to get away and in the process, knocked her down the cellar steps. But instead of getting help, he stood over her lifeless body.
He eventually realised she was alive, but instead of getting help, he rushed out. It was Glenda Shuttleworth who found Eva in a bit of a state and called the emergency services. Eva was then seen recovering in the hospital, with questions being asked about what happened after money also went missing from the pub, leading to police thinking Eva's attack was connected.
Fans call for Stella's return
But as Corrie fans saw, Eva eventually remembered it was Sam who pushed her, and during the latest trip to Weatherfield, Eva was settling in back home when she sat down with her sisters, Leanne and Toyah Battersby, to tell them the truth, with them going on to relay the information to his dad, Nick Tilsley. They later brought Sam to see Eva, but Ben was furious and didn't want the teenager in his home after what had happened. But it was an earlier mention of Eva's mother, Stella, as Leanne had returned from being with her.
It's almost 10 years since Stella was last seen with Eva in Weatherfield. Leanne told Eva that she was going out of her mind and wanted to return with her after her accident, but as Corrie fans pointed out, Stella was played by Michelle Collins, who, since her cobbles exit back in 2014, has returned to EastEnders in the iconic role of Cindy Beale.
