Sex worker Annie Knight, known as Australia's most sexually active woman, married Henry Brayshaw in a lavish Queensland wedding on October 1. The ceremony featured 72 guests, white roses, and a £2,630 dress. Among the bridesmaids was British sex worker Lily Phillips, famous for her extreme sex challenges. While Annie called the day 'the most perfect day', one moment from the best man's speech has sparked widespread discussion.
Best man's speech draws groans
In what appears to be the best man's speech, a pointed joke targeted Annie's OnlyFans career. 'I just want to say a couple of quick thank yous,' the man told the guests. 'Firstly, to the caterers, the bar staff, the venue, and obviously the 30,000 sad, lonely men that paid for all of this.'
The joke was met with awkward groans and forced laughter. Shocked bridesmaids turned to Annie, whose reaction was not visible. The best man acknowledged his misstep, saying 'that was my only one', before moving on.
Annie responds on Instagram
Annie addressed the comment on Instagram, calling it a 'bad joke' and posting a video of her mother-in-law's speech instead. The incident has prompted experts to note that being open about sexuality does not grant unlimited permission for such jokes.
Psychologist Emma Kenny said: 'Being open about your sexuality does not give everyone unlimited permission to make jokes at your expense. On a day celebrating her relationship, I would want the focus to be on her as a person, her happiness and the commitment she and her husband are making.'
Psychotherapist Eloise Skinner agreed, suggesting the comment could be a 'slap in the face' for Annie. She added: 'Even if she's not offended, it's just the wrong kind of context in which to make this sort of comment.'
Bridesmaid challenges
The distasteful joke was not the only hurdle. Several of Annie's closest friends declined to be bridesmaids, fearing it could endanger their careers. 'They were devastated,' Annie told Australian news brand Mamamia. 'It wasn't a decision they made lightly. They were honoured to be chosen, but ultimately, due to their own careers, they couldn't be featured so close to me.'
Lily Phillips had no such reservations. She is now in a monogamous relationship with Sammy, 27, who she met through Annie. The pair have been filming a reality TV show called 'Turned On: Dirty Sexy Money', which follows the lives of 10 sex workers. Lily told Metro: 'It's my "I told you so moment". All the comments start to eat away at you and you have week moments where you're like "gosh, am I going to be alone forever?"'
Sex work after marriage
Annie has said she will continue her sex work after marriage, though she no longer desires to complete extreme challenges. 'I will still be on the platforms, but, yeah, I am winding down the big stunts,' she previously told MailOnline. Her husband Henry has known Annie since they worked together at a Melbourne pub in 2016. He confessed he was 'in love' with her in March 2025, and the couple were engaged a week later.
Psychologist Emma Kenny concluded: 'There is still a tendency to divide women into those considered respectable and those who are expected to carry a permanent mark against them. That can lead to a punitive attitude towards a sex worker finding love, getting married or building a stable life. A woman should never have to prove that she has lived according to everybody else's values before people allow her to be happy.'
