ITV's Alison Hammond, a long-time supporter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has shared her reaction after the Duke of Sussex hilariously channelled her during a surprise appearance on American television.
Harry's Hilarious Homage to a Bake Off Classic
The Birmingham-born This Morning presenter and Great British Bake Off host was clearly delighted after the royal lip-synched to a now-iconic clip from the baking show. The moment aired on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in the US on 3 December 2025.
In the sketch, Prince Harry took on the role of Alison, recreating her famous exchange with Northern Irish baker Mark Lutton from the show's New Year's Day special in 2024. In the original scene, Hammond misheard Lutton saying "bake for me" as "beg for me," leading to a moment of shocked confusion and eventual laughter.
On Colbert's show, the liberal comedian played the part of the baker, while Harry hammed it up as Alison, mimicking her raised eyebrows and dramatic expressions with clear enjoyment.
A Vocal Supporter's Delight
Alison Hammond, a self-proclaimed fan of the Sussexes, quickly shared the clip on her own social media after both Harry and Meghan posted it on their Instagram stories. Her support for the couple is well-documented.
In 2022, she revealed her voice cameo in the couple's Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan. During an episode of This Morning, she excitedly told viewers, "I've watched all three episodes, and I don't know if you know, but in the third episode, you do actually hear my voice."
The clip features archival footage from Harry and Meghan's first royal walkabout together in Nottingham, where Hammond can be heard shouting from the crowd, "Meghan, we love you!"
Mixed Reactions to Royal's Comedy Turn
However, not all viewers were convinced by the Prince's foray into comedy during his second appearance on Colbert's show. His first followed the release of his memoir, Spare.
During the festive segment, which involved a sketch about being a prince in a Hallmark movie, some of Harry's deadpan jokes reportedly failed to land, with viewers admitting to cringing. The Duke made several pointed remarks, including:
- Mocking Donald Trump by claiming America had 'elected a king,' which sparked pantomime boos from the studio audience.
- Criticising CBS for settling a 'baseless' lawsuit with the former President.
- Joking about his ancestor, King George III, after Colbert called the late monarch 'a jerk.'
In the Hallmark movie sketch, Harry joked he'd 'do anything' for a role, listing his ability to ride a horse, fly a helicopter, and his showbiz connections—including a wife who was once a famous TV star. As artificial snow fell, Colbert duly awarded him the role of 'official Late Show prince of Christmas.'
The appearance coincided with the release of a new festive episode of Meghan Markle's Netflix series. It was also revealed that Meghan's estranged father is seriously ill in hospital in the Philippines.
