Alan Halsall has declared his love for his now former Coronation Street co-star Claire Sweeney after she shared an emotional message following her exit from the ITV soap.
The actor, known for playing Tyrone Dobbs in the Salford-based show, was mentioned by Claire as she paid tribute to her co-stars and behind-the-scenes team as she left after three years.
Emotional tribute
Fans had known Cassie Plummer would be leaving Weatherfield, three years after her arrival, when it was revealed she was the long-lost mother of Tyrone. Claire's exit was to take on her dream role as Miss Hannigan in the touring production of Annie.
As her exit scenes aired during Monday's (August 3) episode, Claire took to social media to reflect on her time as Cassie. She wrote: "Three years. What an incredible journey [heart emoji]."
In a video filled with memories, she thanked her co-stars, including Alan, whom she called "my gorgeous Tyrone" and added "love you son." She also mentioned Jennie McAlpine, Billie Naylor, and others, describing her time on the cobbles as "a ride."
Alan's response
Alan was quick to respond in the comments section, writing: "Love ya mum [heart emoji]."
He had previously spoken about Claire's departure, saying: "For Tyrone, he's sick of the lies and the trouble she brings to his door. He's a family man and wants his mum in his life, but he has his own issues without Cassie adding to them. Personally, I get on so well with Claire, so it feels like we're missing a member of the family. She has a great opportunity to play Miss Hannigan in Annie, and I wish her all the best, but I hope to see my mum again soon."
