Adil Ray shocks GMB co-stars with holiday plan with ex

Good Morning Britain star Adil Ray has surprised his co-stars by revealing he is planning to go on holiday with his ex-partner. The ITV presenter made the admission while discussing whether it is acceptable to holiday with a former partner.

On-air revelation

During the conversation, which also featured guest panellists Nigel Havers and Kerry Katona, Ray said: "I am good friends with my ex. She needs a holiday, and I need a holiday, and we are both thinking about it." Kate Garraway was visibly stunned, responding: "Are you? Well you never talk about your romantic life."

Ray quickly clarified that he is not currently in a relationship, adding: "I have no present girlfriend, no. She [the ex] is single, we both need a holiday so we thought why not? We get on really well. We might even share a room because it will save us a bit of money! But we can be sensible, we can be purely platonic." When it was suggested he might get back together with his ex, he said it was unlikely.

Kerry Katona's reaction

Kerry Katona was not keen on the idea, telling Ray he was "pushing it" and adding that she "couldn't think of anything worse" herself.

Return to GMB

Ray has returned to Good Morning Britain after a brief break, having expressed his gratitude for the role. He previously said: "Some news! Yes I have not been on in a while but glad to be on a little over the coming weeks, on what remains one the most important shows on UK television, during the most important of times. Being one of the only (if not the only) Muslims to host a major news show in mainstream peak daytime. So many others have left the traditional outlets, so I am fortunate and grateful of the continued opportunity. And of course I aim to reflect us all, especially the Villa fans. Thank you for supporting me everyone, and I hope you will join us on GMB."

New segment Talking Points

The holiday discussion was part of a new segment called Talking Points, which features guest panellists discussing lighter news. A source explained: "Good Morning Britain is trialling a new segment called Talking Points, an entertainment-style panel that discusses lighter news and pop culture instead of heavy politics. It’s being tested over the next few weeks and Kerry will be part of a regular rotating panel. Kerry has appeared on the show several times over the past few months and has really connected with viewers, so they’ve invited her back for several more appearances. The producers want more grounded, relatable voices, and feel that Kerry resonates strongly with their audience. It’s part of a broader shift to make the show feel a bit more entertainment-driven, especially with extra airtime to fill."
