Coronation Street viewers might find Sarah Platt's prison cellmate Kacey familiar. Sarah (Tina O'Brien), daughter of Gail Platt, is currently imprisoned after DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) gathered sufficient evidence proving she killed Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).
Kacey's sinister turn
During her time inside, Sarah has grown acquainted with Kacey, portrayed by actress Emma Matthews, though their relationship took a sinister turn in Wednesday's (August 17) episode. Kacey knows about Sarah's past relationship with police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) and exploited this knowledge in recent scenes. She informed Sarah that her son had been arrested for armed robbery and demanded Kit's assistance. When Sarah explained she couldn't approach Kit, Kacey revealed a much darker side.
Sarah's dilemma
Kacey's warning that she wouldn't protect Sarah unless she cooperated left her facing an impossible dilemma. During a telephone conversation with Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), Sarah briefed him on the situation, recognising the danger of informing Kit, or any police officer, about Kacey's demands. Todd warned Sarah that if she doesn't speak to Kit, he'll do it himself, but might this only worsen matters?
Emma Matthews' previous roles
Eagle-eyed viewers may recall actress Emma from her previous appearance in the soap during 2017 as social worker Fiona Crowley, who handled the case involving Abi Webster's (Sally Carmen) twins Charlie and Lexi Franklin. Emma also featured as a nurse at Weatherfield General between 2012 and 2015.
Coronation Street spoilers for the coming week have revealed that Kit tells a desperate Sarah that if he were to help Kacey, he could lose his job. He also reminds her that she dumped him to stop him from ruining said career. With Kit avoiding the plea, Kacey subsequently turns aggressive towards Sarah, warning her that if anything happens to her son, it'll be on her.
This comes as Corrie fans became convinced that a cast member had inadvertently leaked a major spoiler on social media this week. Moreover, some viewers believed it revealed the outcome of a significant storyline currently unfolding on the soap. Lucy Fallon, who portrays Sarah's daughter Bethany Platt on the programme, recently shared a photo of herself alongside co-star Tina O'Brien on Instagram. Some fans were left with the impression that Sarah will be released from prison within weeks, though viewers will need to wait and see what fate awaits her as she stands trial for the killing of Theo.
