BBC Vigil creator Tom Edge has warned that "issues" are on the horizon for DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre in season three, as fans spot wedding rings on the couple.

Since Vigil premiered on BBC One five years ago, viewers have followed the love story of DCI Amy Silva (played by Suranne Jones) and DI Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie). In the new season, the pair return with a heartwarming scene featuring their young son Fergal and adopted daughter Poppy.
After Kirsten is told she must travel to Svalbard, they say "I love you" and hug one another in an intimate moment. Watching the first episode via BBC iPlayer, fans have rushed to X to share their support, labelling the couple "super cute" with an "amazing bond".
Wedding rings can be spotted on both of their fingers, indicating that Amy and Kirsten got married during the three-year hiatus. One viewer said: "The worry, Poppy, the rings, the little one, the foundations for future arguments...Silvacre is back." Another joked: "Me everytime their rings came on screen trying to get a closer look."
Trouble ahead
When Amy tells Svalbard's chief of police to "look after my officer", another fan gushed: "One Amy Silva please. That's the WIFE." However, according to Edge, there is trouble ahead for the pair.
While fans are used to seeing Amy travel abroad to head up murder investigations, this time MI5 has chosen to send Kirsten to look into the murder of a British soldier in Norway. Edge shared: "This choice is discomforting for both Amy and Kirsten. Kirsten doesn't want to let Amy down; Amy struggles not to micromanage from afar.
"The choice exposes issues of trust, ambition and power-imbalances between them just as Kirsten's maternity leave comes to end, a threshold that already prompts questions of career and family life balance."
