Fans of The Celebrity Traitors believe they have identified the next murder victim after a "dramatically brilliant" observation made during the latest episode. The BBC series returned for another gripping instalment, which gave the Traitors a chance to carry out a murder with a shocking twist.
Hide-and-Seek Challenge
Traitors James Acaster, Maya Jama and newly recruited Hannah Fry were surprised when host Claudia Winkleman appeared at the turret door with a proposition. In a game of hide-and-seek, the Traitors were tasked with selecting four players to conceal themselves in four castle crypts buried in the woodland.
They picked Ross Kemp, Rob Beckett, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Romesh Ranganathan for the challenge, where they could opt to eliminate one contestant face to face. Former Little Mix member Leigh-Anne secured safety when the three gentlemen selected her to hold a key that would bolt her crypt door from within.
Fans' Predictions
Their gesture left Ross, Rob and Romesh vulnerable to elimination, with fans already convinced they have worked out the victim. Following the broadcast, viewers on Reddit agreed that comedian Romesh faces the greatest danger.
One observer noted: "I can't remember who said it at the round table but what a dramatically brilliant point about Julie when they said we were told to pick the most faithful person to show just what the game does to us. It's only round table number 3 and we're wanting to banish them."
Another enthusiast highlighted that it was Romesh who had voiced this observation, suggesting it might seal his fate. They shared: "Romesh, which is why I really don't want him to go. Besides Hannah (who is a Traitor now), probably the best analytical mind left in it."
Viewer Reactions
Another fan agreed, adding: "Romesh regularly says incredibly insightful things at the roundtable and looks at things from interesting angles. I think he'll get killed in the hide-and-seek for it, and he's where I would have put the shield."
A third viewer commented: "Same! I am [wishing] that he wasn't the target," while another added: "Same, I don't want him to leave but he got edited so much this episode.." Another fan penned: "Romesh has been super smart which is why I think the Traitors might well murder him."
One final fan concluded: "Romesh saying he's not happy but you have to respect democracy has killed me. I do think he'll be going unfortunately."
The BBC reported Friday's episode attracted a peak audience of 9.6 million viewers, falling short of the 10.3 million who watched Thursday's instalment. This follows the opening episode of the second series becoming the most-watched debut of any series of the programme in the UK to date, with 8.9 million viewers.
Friendship Under Pressure
Rob Beckett and Romesh have previously discussed their two-decade friendship and concerns it might not survive the pressures of television, with Rob telling The Mirror: "We were close before, but now we're like brothers. I love Romesh to pieces, and my biggest fear was: 'I hope this show didn't make us drift apart like some people on TV do'."
"If anything, our friendship has increased and we've become stronger. The TV just becomes less important, which is the best way it could be."
The duo have delivered hilarious moments on the show, with fans flocking to X to voice their opinions. One said: "I'm begging #celebritytraitors to leave best buddies #rob and #romesh in the show until the end." Another commented: "If they murder Rob or Romesh I will SUE. #CelebrityTraitors" Another added: "I fear it's gonna be either Rob or Romesh and I'm gonna miss the dynamic duo together #CelebrityTraitors".
The Celebrity Traitors returns to BBC One on Thursday at 8pm.
