Strictly host Josh Widdicombe slams 'stressful' budget hotel room

Strictly Come Dancing's new host Josh Widdicombe has complained about his budget hotel accommodation, saying he feels "incredibly stressed" because his ground floor room backs onto a car park.

The comedian, 43, who recently replaced Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman alongside Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe, said he has been forced to keep the curtains closed all day because passers-by can see into his room.

Comedian's hotel complaint

In a brief update shared on Instagram, he said: "A brief update on my brilliant life. Ground floor hotel room. It's just incredibly stressful, who's this [driving past] I could have been nude. I've got to have a shower in a minute.

"I basically have to have the curtains closed at all times, like I'm recovering from a breakup and lying in bed. I just don't want to be nude in front of other people. Is that too much to ask? This is no life'."

Josh added in the caption: "The showbiz dream continues."

Fans and celebrities react

His 595,000 followers flocked to the comment section, as Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse shared laughing emojis.

Presenter Lucy Alexander chuckled: "Nothing like a premiere inn when working for the BBC."

A fan quipped: "Still, you can't fault the view."

Others praised the presenter following his Strictly debut. They typed: "I just want to say, you, Emma and Johannes are doing a great job being the new presenters of Strictly. You all have tough acts to follow, so that in itself is always going to be challenging. BUT, I don't feel you have deserved all the criticisms. So don't listen to them… and keep going! Hang in there."

Movie Week and upcoming show

Week two of Strictly saw the celebrities take on the Movie Week theme, with the stars performing numbers from films including The Devil Wears Prada, Mary Poppins and Zootropolis.

Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight on BBC One at 6.15pm.
