Strictly Come Dancing voting explained and how you can have your say

Strictly Come Dancing has returned this weekend for another night of sparkles and fancy footwork. The remaining couples will take to the ballroom tonight (Saturday, October 10), just days after the first elimination of the series.

Movie Week ended with the exit of Chris Appleton and his professional partner Amy Dowden, who lost to Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu in the dance off. The judges - Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, and Craig Revel Horwood - all chose to save Jaime and Carlos.

Speaking after the decision, Welsh favourite Amy, who also left the competition first last year with Tom Skinner, said: "Obviously I'm heartbroken, this seems to have been my luck the past few years. But you know what, my heart is only breaking because I don't get to dance with [Chris] on Monday, but I've got a friend for life and that's what's going to heal my broken heart."

How can you vote in Strictly Come Dancing?

When the vote is open, which is likely to be around 8.30pm tonight, click here to head over to the BBC Strictly homepage. You'll find the vote at the top of the page.

You can vote online at www.bbc.co.uk/strictly or by scanning a QR code, which will take you directly to the vote page. The QR code will be displayed on screen during the live show, with all other voting information.

Before you can vote, you need to be signed in with your BBC account. If you've never voted online before, you'll need to register for a BBC account in order to vote - but make sure you do it before the live show as you won't have long to have your say!

Vote allocation and leaderboard

Once the vote is open, you will see the couples listed in alphabetical order. To cast your votes, select your favourite dancing duo by clicking the plus icon next to their name. You can allocate all five of your votes to the same couple, or spread the love to various stars.

If you have submitted all your votes in one go, you won't be able to vote again. But if you have chosen to vote one at a time or in multiple submissions, then you can use the "vote again" button to cast your remaining votes until the button disappears.

Last week, each pair's movie-inspired routine was combined with their score from the week before, earning them a joint total ahead of the first elimination. Australian singer Delta Goodrem and her professional partner Kai Widdrington found themselves at the top of the joint leaderboard at the end of Movie Week, with 59 points.

They were followed by Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley and Lacey Turner and Vito Coppola, who each had 55 points. Meanwhile, Melanie Walters and Aljaž Škorjanec were at the other end of the rankings with 30 points.

The slate has been wiped clean ahead of the latest live show, so it's anyone's game. Who will impress the judges and make it through to Icons Week? We'll have to wait and see. Strictly Come Dancing is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
