SNL UK Skewers Prince Andrew, Harry and Meghan in Sketch
SNL UK Mocks Prince Andrew, Harry and Meghan in Sketch

Saturday Night Live UK targeted Prince Andrew, the Duke of Sussex and the Duchess of Sussex in the opening sketch of its October 12 episode. The comedy show depicted the Prince and Princess of Wales being tricked into an awkward reunion with Harry and Meghan at Sandringham, with the meeting arranged by Andrew, played by George Fouracres.

Awkward Sandringham Reunion

The sketch opened with Meghan, played by Ayoade Bamgboye, looking around and telling Harry, played by Jack Shep: "Look, this is where your grandpa [Prince Philip] asked if I was related to Beyonce." Harry responded: "Classic. And over here, this is where he asked if I was related to him."

William and Kate, played by Freddie Meredith and Annabel Marlow, then approached the couple, with Kate saying: "Oh look, William, it’s the woman from Suits." William snapped back: "She’s not on Suits anymore. She doesn’t do anything anymore."

King Charles Calls Out Andrew

The couples were joined by the King, Queen and Andrew, who asked the group: "Did somebody say Pizza Express Woking?" After Charles addressed his younger brother without using his former title, Andrew fired back: "That’s Prince Andrew to you."

Calling out Andrew, the King said: "Enough is enough. You’re arrogant. You’re entitled." He continued: "You represent an outdated institution that has had centuries of war, tax evasion, and slavery, and that’s all great, but you have also been accused of terrible things, and that’s where I draw the line." Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles last year, replied: "I swear, I never believed for one moment that my actions would have consequences."

Previous Sussex Mockery

During its season two return last month, SNL UK also took aim at Harry and Meghan after they returned to live in the UK six years after stepping back as working royals amid the Megxit crisis and moving to the US. That sketch, set at Balmoral, saw Charles poke fun at their non-working royal status, joking the castle was for "royals only".

After the couple announced their move to the UK, Charles said: "Don’t tell me you spent all your Netflix money already." Harry responded: "Daddy, it was 60 million dollars. How long was it meant to last? I’m not asking for much."

The fourth episode of SNL UK was hosted by Danny Dyer, with musical guest Sasha Keable. This Saturday’s (October 17) show will be hosted by James Norton.

The sketch airs the same week the Sussexes are expected to visit CRS Nottingham for an acting workshop, before joining the women of the Grenfell Hubb Community Kitchen at a local food bank. They are also anticipated to meet with Epic Partners, an organisation that supports young people through sport. SNL UK continues on Saturdays at 10pm on Sky and streaming service Now.
