SNL UK mocks Andrew, Harry and Meghan in Sandringham sketch

Saturday Night Live UK mocked Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in a sketch aired during the opening segment of Saturday's (October 12) episode. The comedy programme depicted the Prince (Freddie Meredith) and Princess (Annabel Marlow) of Wales being duped into an uncomfortable encounter with Harry (Jack Shep) and Meghan (Ayoade Bamgboye) at Sandringham.

Reunion orchestrated by Andrew

The brothers' reunion, along with their respective spouses, was orchestrated by Andrew (George Fouracres). The scene opened with Meghan surveying her surroundings before remarking to her husband: "Look, this is where your grandpa [Prince Philip] asked if I was related to Beyonce."

Harry replied: "Classic. And over here, this is where he asked if I was related to him." William and Kate subsequently encountered the pair, with the Princess observing: "Oh look, William, it's the woman from Suits." However, her husband sharply retorted: "She's not on Suits anymore. She doesn't do anything anymore."

King's confrontation with Andrew

The sketch then introduced the King, Queen and Andrew to the gathering, with the latter interjecting: "Did somebody say Pizza Express Woking?". Following Charles addressing his younger sibling without employing his previous title, Andrew retorted: "That's Prince Andrew to you."

Confronting Andrew, the King declared: "Enough is enough. You're arrogant. You're entitled." He went on: "You represent an outdated institution that has had centuries of war, tax evasion, and slavery, and that's all great, but you have also been accused of terrible things, and that's where I draw the line." Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles last year, replied: "I swear, I never believed for one moment that my actions would have consequences."

Second series targets Sussexes

When Saturday Night Live UK returned for its second series last month, the programme also targeted Harry and Meghan following their return to Britain six years after stepping down as working royals during the Megxit saga and relocating to America. The sketch, set at Balmoral, featured Charles mocking their non-working royal status, quipping that the castle was reserved for "royals only".

Following Harry and Meghan's announcement of their UK move, Charles remarked: "Don't tell me you spent all your Netflix money already." The Duke responded: "Daddy, it was 60 million dollars. How long was it meant to last? I'm not asking for much."

The fourth instalment of SNL UK featured Danny Dyer as host, with Sasha Keable providing the musical entertainment. This Saturday's (October 17) episode will see James Norton take hosting duties. The sketch coincides with the Sussexes' anticipated visit to CRS Nottingham for an acting workshop, followed by a meeting with the women from the Grenfell Hubb Community Kitchen at a local food bank. They're also expected to engage with Epic Partners, an organisation that supports young people through sport. SNL UK continues on Saturdays at 10pm on Sky and streaming service Now.
