Sky Sports viewers complained about biased coverage during the Championship match between Wrexham and Cardiff City on Monday night (August 17) at the Cardiff City Stadium. The game ended in a dramatic 1-1 draw, with Cardiff's Rubin Colwill scoring deep into stoppage time to cancel out Kieffer Moore's early goal.
Viewers accuse Sky of bias
While some fans enjoyed the match, others took to X (formerly Twitter) to express frustration with the coverage, claiming it favored Wrexham. One user wrote: "Can't stand the love in Sky have for Wrexham." Another added: "This Sky Wrexham love in is absolutely vomit inducing," while a third said: "The way Sky talk about Wrexham is sososo infuriating. They act as if they're some huge team."
However, not all complaints were about Wrexham bias. One viewer felt the coverage leaned towards Cardiff, writing: "Sitting watching this in Scotland (heavy rain outside).. thought SKY have been very biased in build-up and comments in favour of Cardiff."
Praise for Welsh opening and commentary
Some viewers were pleased with the coverage, particularly presenter Caroline Barker opening the broadcast in Welsh. One person wrote: "Respect to the Sky Sports presenter @carolinebarker for opening tonight's Cardiff-Wrexham in Welsh.. a dead language according to some." Another commented: "Great commentary on Sky!"
Parkinson reflects on missed chances
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said after the match: "We've had chances to kill the game off. We haven't taken them, the keeper's made saves, but we haven't really made him make a top-class save." He added: "We knew we could give Cardiff problems, and time and time again we did. Really in the cold light of day, the game should have been out of sight, but it wasn't."
The Championship continues this weekend with Birmingham vs Bristol City on Saturday (August 22), while the new Premier League season also gets underway later this week.
