Celebrity Traitors viewers were left speechless just minutes into Friday's (October 2) episode after Richard E. Grant took a brutal swipe at Rob Beckett. The hit murder mystery has returned with a new series, with 21 famous faces heading to the Scottish Highlands.
Richard and Maya chosen as Traitors
Claudia Winkleman's ultimate game of trust and deception kicked off this week when she chose Richard E. Grant and Maya Jama to be the Traitors. It didn't take long for Richard to reveal his true identity to the Faithfuls in a hilarious blunder.
Another twist was in store, as Richard and Maya had to choose another recruit to join them in the turret. James Acaster and Amol Rajan were later summoned to the chapel, before the Traitors chose who would join them in the turret and who would be murdered.
The reveal and the teeth question
During the latest episode, it was revealed that Richard and Maya had chosen to recruit James as their murderous colleague, while Amol became the first star to leave the castle. Ahead of the reveal, the stars gathered in the breakfast room.
As they waited to see who else would enter the room, Rob Beckett turned to Richard and said: "Both of us wanted to be Traitors." Richard replied: "I know."
Rob then asked: "How did you feel when you found out? Because I found there was a sense of relief, that I can just chill. But how did you feel? Because you really wanted to be."
Richard said: "I know! So, I know that tonight, the slates will be 15 people [writing my name]," before Rob noted: "Oh, well, I think, yeah, I think there probably will be an expectation for you to sort of explain your workings. I suppose it was a bold strategy from a Faithful!"
Fans react to the moment
Richard then swiftly changed the subject, taking a hilarious swipe at Rob by asking: "Do you have more teeth than a normal person?" The question left Rob in fits of laughter, while viewers were also left speechless.
"Getting the suspiciousness off him by asking Rob Beckett if he has more teeth than a normal person. Richard is so funny," one person wrote on X. Another added: "Incredible."
A third said: "I am HOWLING." Someone else commented: "Richard needs to win." A fifth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: "Richard E. Grant is on course to become the greatest Traitor ever. Poor Rob Beckett."
Another fan questioned whether Richard had a clever game plan. They wrote: "No idea if that was a distraction technique or a genuine question from Richard."
Mission takes a toll
Elsewhere in today's episode, the stars were buried alive as part of the latest mission. It all became too much for Jerry Hall though, who left the coffin before the challenge had begun - meaning that she was instantly put up for murder, alongside her partner Hannah Fry.
Celebrity Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
