Cast Members Reflect on Season One's Fallout
Amanda Cronin, 57, told the Mirror that watching the first season back was difficult. "It was really difficult for people that care about me to see me being attacked with gossip, which was quite nasty. My mum was upset by a lot of it."
Juliet Mayhew, 49, admitted she questioned whether it was "worth" returning to the show. "I felt a bit pummelled. I ended the season and I was like, 'Why am I putting myself through this?'" she said. Her best friend advised her to "grow crocodile skin," reminding her she was making entertainment, not fighting a civil war.
Authenticity and Sisterhood at the Core
Karen Loderick-Peace defended the show's authenticity, saying the editing accurately reflected what was filmed. "We were all our true selves, so what you see is what you get. It wasn't carved out to be something that it wasn't."
Nessie Welschinger added that the conflict mirrors real life, with relationships tested and built. Karen described the cast as a "sisterhood" where sisters fight and bicker but ultimately come back with love.

Panthea Parker revealed she tried to extend an olive branch to Amanda when the show was announced to air in America, sending a congratulatory voice note, but received "zero" response. Amanda also hinted at a rift with Karen, who said, "I love Amanda, but I'm not going to be her lackey."
Amanda described the Antigua trip as a breaking point: "There was a certain point where it just literally imploded. It's like a nuclear bomb went off." Juliet M added, "There's nothing done by halves in this group. All or nothing."
