Michael Sheen 'beef' with Richard E Grant on Celebrity Traitors

A body language expert has suggested tensions may be brewing between two stars of The Celebrity Traitors, with Michael Sheen appearing to snub fellow actor Richard E Grant during the first episode.

The brand new series of the star-studded Traitors spin-off kicked off last night (October 1), with Love Island host Maya Jama and esteemed actor Richard E Grant named as the first two Traitors. However, just moments after being appointed, Richard gave the game away and confessed his role to his co-stars.

The slip-up has put him under intense scrutiny, meaning Richard and Maya have their work cut out getting the heat off the Saltburn actor. As viewers saw last night, they were given the opportunity to recruit a third Traitor, and they selected Amol Rajan and James Acaster as their top picks.

Body language clues

Which of the two men will don the third green cloak will be revealed tonight, with the other star set to be murdered by the Traitors. While both Amol and James were set on spreading the word that Richard was a Traitor before the recruitment twist, there may be unforeseen trouble brewing between Richard and another famous actor in the castle.

Body language expert Judi James has picked up on a concerning sign that Michael Sheen may have "beef" with his fellow thespian. In conversation with Paddy Power, she addressed the "telling" clue.

"When Richard arrived in the church all the other celebrities turned round with a smile of recognition and greeting for this major, iconic star," Judi explained. "Sheen part-turned his head to look but when he did see who it was arriving, he quickly turned his head back to the front again in a gesture of rejection or ignore, hinting there might be some kind of beef between the two men."

Sheen's low profile

She continued: "While Maya sat grinning at Richard beside him, Sheen's thin smile evaporated and there appeared to be a hint of a micro-tongue poke as he faced front, which can be a signal of dislike or rejection. At the very least there were no signs of pleasure at seeing his fellow thespian there."

Judi also pointed out that despite his hugely successful career, Sheen has adopted an under the radar approach so far. She commented: "Sheen is hunkering in currently, proving his greatest acting talent might be to make himself invisible. He's clearly a big beast of the show but he must have also studied it enough to know a low profile helps keep you under the radar of suspicion."

Viewers will have to tune in tonight to see the fallout from the first murder of the series. The Celebrity Traitors continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer, swiftly followed by companion show The Traitors: Uncloaked.
