A body language expert has suggested there could be tension between two of the biggest names in the Celebrity Traitors castle, just one episode into the new series.
The celebrity-packed spin-off of The Traitors launched on October 1, with Love Island presenter Maya Jama and actor Richard E Grant selected as the first two Traitors. However, Richard quickly blew his cover by revealing his role to fellow contestants.
Evidence of Friction
Body language specialist Judi James has spotted what she describes as a "telling" indication that Michael Sheen might harbour "beef" with Richard. Speaking to Paddy Power, she highlighted the moment Richard arrived in the church for the first task.
"When Richard arrived in the church all the other celebrities turned round with a smile of recognition and greeting for this major, iconic star," Judi explained. "Sheen part-turned his head to look but when he did see who it was arriving, he quickly turned his head back to the front again in a gesture of rejection or ignore, hinting there might be some kind of beef between the two men."
Subtle Signals
Judi continued: "While Maya sat grinning at Richard beside him, Sheen's thin smile evaporated and there appeared to be a hint of a micro-tongue poke as he faced front, which can be a signal of dislike or rejection. At the very least there were no signs of pleasure at seeing his fellow thespian there."
She also noted that despite his hugely successful career, Sheen has adopted a low-key approach so far. "Sheen is hunkering in currently, proving his greatest acting talent might be to make himself invisible," she said. "He's clearly a big beast of the show but he must have also studied it enough to know a low profile helps keep you under the radar of suspicion."
What Happens Next
Last night's episode saw Richard and Maya given the chance to recruit a third Traitor, selecting Amol Rajan and James Acaster as their preferred candidates. Which of the pair will receive the third green cloak will be revealed tonight, with the remaining celebrity set to be eliminated by the Traitors.
The series continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer, immediately followed by companion show The Traitors: Uncloaked.
