Married at First Sight UK star Shona Manderson has announced she is 'semi-engaged' to boyfriend Matt Pilmoor, after he surprised her with a promise ring during a reunion episode. The couple, who met on the E4 show in 2023, shared the news on Instagram, with Shona urging fans to 'never stop believing in love'.
Matt, 30, presented Shona, 32, with a diamond promise ring during Monday's special reunion episode, which brought together cast members from the 2023 and 2024 series. In a heartfelt speech, Matt vowed to make her his wife and the mother of his children, saying: 'I want to show how committed I am with this ring, and to promise you an amazing future.'
The couple originally appeared on MAFS with other partners—Shona was matched with Brad Skelly and Matt with Adrienne Naylor—but both relationships ended. They confirmed their romance in November 2023 and have since spoken about plans to marry and have children. In a December 2023 interview, they said they hoped to wed in the UK and have two kids.
Shona was removed from the experiment due to the toxicity of her marriage to Brad Skelly, who was accused of controlling behaviour. Reflecting on her relationship with Matt, she said: 'We have a really healthy, happy, safe, fun relationship.' Matt added that while it would have been 'incredible' to be paired from the start, he believes their journey happened 'for a purpose.'
