Fans of Love Island have demanded producers introduce a 'diabolical' twist ahead of one of the show's most explosive segments, The Grafties, which is fast approaching in the 13th series of the ITV reality dating show.
What Are The Grafties?
The Grafties is an improvised awards ceremony held at the villa for contestants, typically during the second-to-last week of the series. It has become a cornerstone of the program, known for sparking drama, clashes, and viewer grievances. Multiple categories are put forward for public voting, with clips shown to Islanders as proof of nominations, similar to Movie Night. The public ballot results, often conducted on social media, are then unveiled, and winners step forward to claim their trophy and deliver a speech.
Last year's categories included Best No Filter Moment, Most Emotional Moment, Best Double Act, Unfinished Business, Flirtiest Performance, and Eat, Sleep, Crack On, Repeat Award.
Fans Voice Concerns Over This Year's Grafties
Some fans have expressed worries that the most explosive moments have already been aired during Movie Night, leaving no shocking disclosures for The Grafties. In a post on the Love Island UK subreddit, a fan stated: 'At the moment the Grafties 2026 is looking like it might be a snooze fest, everything has been aired at movie night and with the current group of islander there isn't much to show.'
The same fan proposed a never-before-seen twist: 'Therefore, I think they should bring back ex Islanders to either present awards or to accept them. They fly most of the cast out for the final dumping vote and the final so why not have the Grafites at the same time as the last dumping vote? Make all Islanders, current and dumped eligible for awards and treat it like a reunion mixed in with the final vote. Have it at night too seeing as they love that twist this year. If they cant do it then to save money have ex-Islanders still eligible for awards and have them send a video message accepting it.'
Mixed Reactions and Alternative Suggestions
Some fans agreed with the idea, with one replying: 'YESSS this is such a good idea. They DEFINITELY need to do this!' However, not everyone was convinced. One viewer suggested an alternative based on Love Island Australia's 'Truth Bike' feature, where returned Islanders question remaining contestants. They said: 'If they're going to bring back past Islanders I think it should be to question the remaining islanders. They've done this on Australia with the Truth Bike and it was diabolical because the returned Islanders had all the outside goss.'
The Truth Bike compels Islanders to pedal a stationary bike while answering yes or no questions, ringing a bell for 'yes' or honking a horn for 'no'. There are no repercussions for lying, but questions are designed to provoke drama and conflict.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
