Joel Dommett's wife Hannah Cooper broke down in tears as the couple announced the end of their podcast Never Have I Ever. The decision, described as "really hard", comes after more than four years of episodes.
Podcast comes to an end
Comedian and presenter Joel, 41, and model and presenter Hannah, 35, married in 2019 and launched the podcast in 2022. Over four years on, they have decided to step back, citing the demands of caring for two children alongside the show, which Joel referred to as their "third child".
The couple have two children together, Wilde, two, and baby Dutch. At the start of the latest episode, Joel said: "This is it, it's the final one. It might not come as a shock to people or it might come as a shock to people. We know we've had a long hiatus since the birth of our second child but essentially we've realised with two children time is hard.
"Time is hard right? God agrees. Microsoft XP agrees. Having the time is very difficult, right now. We're not saying never never never have I ever.
"Right now, we don't feasibly understand how we could fit it into our lives…. Never Have I Ever feels like a third child and we're not there yet."
Emotional goodbye
Minutes later, after a colleague named Joe played a highlights reel from the past four years, Hannah broke down in tears. She said: "Honestly, it's the sad music that's getting me, but it's been the best time. I've just had so much fun.
"Doing stuff every week and listening to that you realise how many people have been along that journey with us And like this started out in trampoline parks and now we've got two kids.
"We've really raised the game and if someone says we're not committed to the cause I think we committed, it's honestly been like the best time. It's just really hard to almost say goodbye to it right now because it's a lot."
Hannah, like Joel, agreed the pause might not be permanent. She added: "Until we sort of, sort out childcare, learn how to juggle, get more childcare, and figure it out then we can talk about bringing it back…we've had to accept we just need a little time."
Next steps
While Joel steps back from Never Have I Ever, he is set to present the National Television Awards (NTAs) tonight (September 8) at 8pm on ITV.
