Joe Lycett may have jeopardised his position on Celebrity Traitors after spending last night's episode repeatedly telling fellow contestants he wanted to be recruited by the Traitors. The comedian, 38, helped expose Richard E. Grant earlier in the series, and his name had not come up in the Traitors' turret or at the round table – until now.
During the episode, Lycett told the kitchen: 'I was going to have an alcoholic drink, but actually I'm not going to now, because I want a clear head in case I'm recruited.' He added: 'There's a beautiful vacancy now,' before explaining how his history of impish stunts would make him well suited to the emerald cloak.
Fans fear Lycett has made himself a target
Later, he told Miranda: 'Just to be clear, I'd love to be recruited. I want the full experience as much as possible.' However, the Traitors chose to recruit YouTuber King Kenny instead.
Fans are now convinced Lycett might have unintentionally doomed himself. @PrinnyZen wrote on X: 'Joe Lycett is playing a dangerous game running around saying recruit me.' @lizmatthews__ agreed: 'I have a feeling this is gonna put a lot of suspicion on Joe now. He's spoken so much about wanting to be recruited that now someone has; everyone's gonna be looking at him.'
Reddit users predict banishment
@rileys_ghost joked: 'If Joe Lycett gets recruited, I think he's so excited he's at risk of pulling a Richard.' @tennisafiya said she was 'looking forward to all the heat being on [Joe] after they realise no one's dead.'
On Reddit, Donttrustthell claimed: 'Joe is gonna be targeted so hard.' Redditingtonviking said they would be 'very surprised' if Lycett doesn't end up banished next episode because 'his blatant begging for recruitment will look very suspicious to the faithfuls.'
What happens next
With Kenny now in the round table, the Traitors seem likely to cook up a fiendish plot, and Lycett does seem vulnerable. Joanne McNally is also looking vulnerable, so the outcome remains uncertain.
